Education Certification: Advantages for Students
Participation in the Penn State Behrend-Mercyhurst Five-Year Education Program in either elementary, secondary or K-12 school teaching offers students the opportunity to:

receive a bachelor's degree from Penn State that ensures a strong subject matter background and the opportunity to work closely with Penn State professors, often doing research in one's chosen field of specialization;

enroll at Mercyhurst in the fifth year with the automatic assurance of a full transfer of credits in the subject matter disciplines;

complete the requisite education courses and field experience (student teaching) within one academic year;

receive Pennsylvania Teacher Certification (Level I).;
