George Looney has received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for his poetry, as well as two Ohio Arts Council Fellowships and, most recently, a $10,000 fellowship from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for 2006.  His work has also won awards from several literary journals, including New Letters, The Literary Review, and most recently The Larry Levis Editor's Award for poetry from The Missouri Review.  His work has been published in such prestigious literary journals as The Kenyon Review, New England Review, The Southern Review, Shenandoah, The Gettysburg Review, Quarterly West, High Plains Literary Review, Prairie Schooner, Willow Springs, Denver Quarterly, Southern Poetry Review, and many others.
