For Biology Majors

Because of an emphasis on problem solving, Penn State Behrend Biology majors are well prepared to join the workforce or continue their education in a graduate or professional program.

Careers in biology were recently ranked by the Job Rated Alamanac as its Best-Rated Job.

Recent graduates are working in diverse fields that include industrial and government biology, lab and field biology, fisheries biology, research, genetic counseling, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, medical technology, physical therapy, veterinary medicine, environmental consulting, waste and water quality management, enology, horticulture, pharmaceutical administration and sales, and teaching at the high school and university levels.

Graduate schools attended by Biology graduates include Case Western Reserve University, Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University, North Carolina State University, Ohio College of Podiatry, Penn State College of Medicine, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Purdue University, Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, Temple University College of Medicine, University of Arizona, University of California at Los Angeles, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and the University of San Francisco.
