Enrollment Type: World Campus

The World Campus mixes tradition and technology to offer you courses in a variety of paced and self-paced delivery formats outside of the "traditional" classroom setting.  World Campus courses are developed and taught by the same Penn State faculty members teaching in "traditional" Penn State classrooms.  The credits you earn from your living room are the same credits you would earn on campus.

Penn State also offers a variety of courses and programs through The World Campus. This is an alternative way to obtain Penn State credit for the adult learner who may need options outside of the classroom.

Online Degree and Certificate Programs

The advent of Internet technology has not only changed the way the world does business, but also the way it learns. You can put Penn State's reputation and experience to work for you by earning a high-quality degree from your home or office. Now, many courses are conveniently offered online and Penn State has more than 30 degree and certificate programs to choose from.

General Education

You will find that many of the most popular Penn State World Campus courses can be used to fulfill General Education requirements for your program of study. Typical four year degrees require over 40 credits of general education from areas such as arts, humanities, and social and behavioral sciences, to name just a few.   Most courses have optional Web sites and e-mail lesson submission for your convenience.

Course Format

Because the World Campus uses a variety of instructional methods, it is important to understand how they differ before you register for courses. For instance, it is important to know whether Web access is required to complete a course, whether the course has fixed start and end dates, and whether the course is open for registration at any time. The course may also have features such as audio, video, or computer materials, and e-mail lesson submissions.

Academic Advising

Advisers Are Your Most Important Advocate

As a Penn State World Campus student, advisers will offer you counsel and assistance; in addition, they can serve as a liaison between you and University admissions, registration, and, if needed, your professors.

A World Campus academic adviser can help you select appropriate courses to meet your educational goals. Talking with one of our advisers can be especially helpful if you're just beginning your college program. They can answer your questions about the World Campus, help clarify your objectives, and assist in planning a program of study that's right for you. Our advising is always confidential and without obligation.

Reminder: If you are a Penn State on-campus student interested in taking courses through World Campus, consult your faculty adviser or the Division of Undergraduate Studies. Our courses can be an important part of your program, but you will need written approval to enroll.
