Behrend Lions Athletics

Athletics at Penn State Behrend continues to create
spirit and excitement on campus.

In the 2006-07 athletic year, the Behrend Lions earned numerous accolades including capturing the Presidents' Cup for the seventh time in eight years--honoring the program with the most successful teams in conference play. Behrend teams won four AMCC regular-season and four AMCC tournament championships, while sending four teams to the ECAC Tournament and one to the NCAA Championships.

The blue and white also captured 150 All-Conference playing honors and 100 more Academic All-Conference Awards. The Behrend Lions compete in 14 league sponsored sports and had nine "Player of the Year" awards, six "Newcomer of the Year" honors and four "Coach of the Year" awards.

A founding member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC), the Penn State Behrend Lions and the AMCC recently celebrated a "Decade of Excellence." The Behrend Lions field twenty-one varsity teams in Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They also compete in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC), the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), and the Mason-Dixon Conference for track and field.

Students benefit from a variety of outstanding facilities. The Junker Center, a $10.2 million athletics and recreation facility, provides the blue and white with a state-of-the-art indoor training space. In addition, new outdoor playing fields have been created for baseball, softball, soccer, and intramural activities. Students also benefit from outdoor tennis courts, and sand volleyball activities, and they can walk or hike at the nearby Wintergreen Gorge, part of the college's 725-acre campus.

Also, 20 intramural sports and a wide variety of recreational activities are available to students.
