Fyffe Selected to 2007 Mid-Atlantic NCAA Division III All-Region Team

Penn State Behrend freshman standout Josh Fyffe (Fredonia/Sharpsville) was recently selected to the 2007 ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic NCAA Division III All-Region Third-Team.

"Josh had an exceptional spring. He is a very gifted player and this is a very special honor," said head coach Paul Benim. "It is very difficult to earn a spot on this squad. We are happy for Josh and the Behrend Lions program."

Earlier this season the conference coaches chose Fyffe as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year and his teammates honored him with Team MVP and Rookie of the year accolades. Fyffe started 38 games at shortstop and hit .394 with a team-high nine doubles and 33 RBIs. He also hit three home runs and stole ten bases while leading the team to the fourth most wins in program history with a 27-12 mark.

Fyffe's 2007 hit total ranks sixth best on the Behrend history charts, while his RBI total ranks eleventh, and his average is twenty-seventh best in a single-season.  He ranked eighth in the AMCC in batting average, fourth in hits, and fourth in RBIs, and third in assists.

Fyffe joins David Koerbel (2006), Brian Hart (2004), and Jake Boyle (1999) as other Behrend players who have earned AMCC Newcomer of the Year honors and former Behrend superstars Jake Boyle and Mitch Reckner who had previously been named to NCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams.
