Behrend's Julie Koman is ECAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

State Behrend sophomore pitching star Julie Koman
(McKees Rocks/Montour) has been named the ECAC South Division III Softball
Pitcher of the Week for March 19. Koman was also honored by the ECAC
with a pitcher of the week selection two times last season as a freshman.
Koman was also picked as the AMCC Pitcher of the Week for this week.
She earned four of the team's six wins on Behrend's spring trip to
Kissimmee, Florida March 11-18. Against Defiance on March 16, Koman
pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine while giving up only four
hits. On March 17 Koman overpowered Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a
season-high 11 strikeouts in the win. Last season's AMCC Pitcher of
the Year also earned wins over Washington and Ramapo on the trip.
Overall Koman worked over 44 innings while striking out 53 and walking only
13.
The Behrend Lions went 6-5 to start the season in Florida and will look to
defend their title and repeat as AMCC Champions this season. The first
conference game for the blue and white is a doubleheader scheduled for March
28 at Medaille at 3:00 p.m.
