The RFID Center of Excellence lab is located at the Penn State Behrend campus in Erie, Pennsylvania. The lab is housed at the new 160,000 square foot Research and Economic Development Center (REDC) which is shared by the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology and the Sam and Irene Black School of Business. Lab equipment includes state-of-the-art RFID readers, antennas, portals, conveyor sections, PLC control units, photoelectric sensors, rotary attenuators, spectrum analyzer, mobile reader, hand-held reader, RFID/Barcode printer, and a WI-FI based real-time-locating-system. The lab is strategically designed to test and demonstrate reader performance, antenna capabilities, tag analysis, ERP system integration, product tagging optimization, and real-time asset tracking.
