Sarah Whitney joined Pennsylvania Sea Grant in August 2004 as a coastal outreach specialist. She has more than ten years experience in the policy, research, and outreach aspects of natural resource management. She earned her master of forestry degree with a focus on protected area management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, and has a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Bates College . She has diverse experience working with government, academic, and nonprofit sectors. Her primary responsibilities focus on AIS, marina and boater pollution prevention outreach, and watershed planning.

Items to note:

  • Organized Setting the Road Map: A Workshop for Developing Pennsylvania's Invasive Species Management Plan. Outcomes from this workshop will be used by the Pennsylvania Invasive Species Council as it develops an invasive species management plan for Pennsylvania.
  • Conducting a survey of marinas in southeast Pennsylvania to assess conditions and challenges related to water quality and identify ways to address these problems.
  • Serves as the policy workgroup chair for the Mid-Atlantic AIS Regional Panel, and as a member of the Smart Boating Clean Waters workgroup, and the Schuylkill Action Network Education and Outreach team.
